At Temple Emanu-El-Beth Sholom, we believe that synagogues are a place of meaning.

It is in the synagogue that we celebrate and mourn, that we find intellectual engagement and spiritual sustenance. It is by coming together that we can act to support each other, and work to change the world.
Since our beginnings in 1882, our synagogue has been the home of liberal Judaism in Montreal. The Judaism that we practice can be lived with integrity alongside modern life. The equality of men and women; the inherent value of all human beings, of every gender identity and sexual orientation; the conviction that interfaith families can strengthen our community; the openness to intellectual inquiry and spiritual journeys; these are our hallmarks.
We also believe that if you share our values, you will want to help sustain our community, so we can be here for you and for others, now and for many years to come. Although we welcome contributions from friends of Temple, our primary model of support is through membership. You are welcome to attend services and events as our guest, but we would love to have you join our Temple family. See below for the wide variety of membership options we offer. No one is ever turned away for financial reasons; for more information on membership abatement, please contact us at 514-937-3575, ext. 213.
Did you know.....
Students: In addition to our regular programming, we connect the community with events like Lunch Together, an online thought-provoking leadership forum that celebrates a diverse and innovative roster of speakers?
We also offer access to “Next Dor” – a cultural hub of young adult Jewish life in Montreal. Their goal is to build relationships and strengthen the young Jewish community, inside and outside the synagogue’s walls.
