Temple has a variety of fun and easy ways to get involved and make new friends. Volunteering is flexible and we can accommodate your schedule. Please fill out the form below if you are interested in a specific committee, and/or if you want to learn more. Stephanie Moll or Sally Yaffe from the Volunteering Coordination Committee will then work with you to find the right match between your interests and skills, and the many opportunities for engaging in Temple life and community building.
Nos bénévoles sont francophones et anglophones. Tout le monde est bienvenue.
Volunteering at Temple
Descriptions: General Committees
The Aron Museum Committee is seeking volunteers to help with tours of the museum. The tours are approximately one hour in length. There are also in-person meetings, as needed, every 2-3 months. If you have a strong interest or knowledge of Judaica or Jewish art history and are available on a flexible schedule, please reach out to us to join our volunteer team. Contact Nancy Strohl at Aronmuseum@gmail.com.
The Cemetery Committee is looking for volunteers. This committee assists in showing people different cemeteries and provides information about purchasing burial plots. Please reach out to Nancy Maklan to join our volunteer team at email@example.com.
The Equity, Diversity, Inclusion Committee is always looking for new members to help with JDAAIM (Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month) events, as well as other projects throughout the year. If keeping Temple open and inclusive interests you, please join Jordanna Vamos, Avery Kazen and Rabbi Kowalski at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Docent Committee is seeking volunteers to help schedule group visits for interactive talks on Judaism and brief tours of the building and the Aron Museum. The tours may be in French and sometimes take place on the weekends. If you are well versed in the basics of Judaism and comfortable with public speaking and reaching out to non-Jewish visitors, please join us. Contact Judith Bougaieff at email@example.com.
The Education Committee is seeking young, active volunteers available to advise and support Torah School, MOFTY (Montreal Federation of Temple Youth) and the Rabbi for family events and activities. Temple students who require community service hours for their school program are more than welcome to join us for our monthly meetings. Reach out to Rabbi Kowalski at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Temple has a beautiful Gift Shop at Temple and would love more volunteers. They can use your help arranging and pricing merchandise. If you have a knack for sales or just want to get involved, please come be a part of this team. Contact Nancy Weiss at email@example.com.
The House Committee is seeking volunteers to help manage the physical building and assist with on-going maintenance, repairs, and improvements. Please contact Josh Weinstein at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Member Connections Committee is at the heart of Temple values. Our role is to welcome new members, help newcomers find their place in Temple, and have members connect with each other in our community. We play multiple roles and undertake several different initiatives, including making phone calls for High Holidays. We are always looking for new members. Reach out to Maggie Jacobs at email@example.com.
The Ushering Committee’s most important role is to help people feel comfortable in Temple. They would like you to join their committee greeting people, helping them be seated and providing security for services and High Holidays. They need you for Friday night and Saturday morning services. Special events may require extra ushers. Contact Chuck Hendrickson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Volunteer Coordination Committee is seeking volunteers to help coordinate members’ interests with their myriad of volunteer opportunities. Please come be a part of this team and get to know your fellow Temple members. Microsoft Excel skills and attention to details are not required but they are a plus. Contact Stephanie Moll and Sally Yaffe at email@example.com.
